Steven Carter has landed in Europe as of June 28 and is preparing to compete in two gravity events representing Canada in the Dirtsurfer/Inline Boarding discipline. He will be the first Canadian to attend these events for the purpose of competing in this discipline and is adamant that he will do us proud. With less than one year of riding and no race experience under his belt, the 18-year old is a relatively unknown in the international arena, but his friends in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta are expecting big things.
Armed with a new race suit, aerodynamic racing helmet and custom Canada colors on his GP/Road Racer, Carter will, at the very least, be intimidating at the starting gate. Hopefully, within a few runs, he will also be intimidating on the course! Steven's race schedule begins in Are, Sweden at the Are Mountain Games from July 3 to 7. Carter then has a little time off to prepare for the big one: The World Championships in Switzerland! Part of an event dubbed: COASH (Chill on a Swiss Hill). the race schedule runs from July 17-22. Competing against over 20 riders from across Europe, Steven will be in strong company alongside well-known international racers Nihat Uysal of Germany and Ueli Gut of Switzerland. Canadian Ross Baradoy of Stand-up and Streetluge notoriety will compete alongside Steven in the Dirtsurfer/Inline Boarding discipline at COASH, completing the double-threat for Canada. Good luck to all!
You can follow Steven's progress and experience in Europe on our Inline Boarding Canada Forum as he updates us personally every day or so. We have added his first comments to a post we started HERE.
